Winding-up of a non-profit association operating a business during a management crisis

since 2025 · Berlin-Brandenburg · completion expected in 2027

Teaser

An association operating a business had lost its ability to lead and to take decisions. THI took on the role of executive board with corporate officer status, transferred individual divisions of the social enterprise to other non-profit organisations and is completing the winding-up.
An association operating a business found itself in an exceptional situation as a result of a leadership and structural crisis. Operational and corporate responsibilities were no longer sufficiently separated, which led to considerable decision-making deficits.
THI was appointed as interim executive board with corporate officer status and to prepare and carry out the winding-up.
Five divisions with a total of 44 employees and turnover of around EUR 2.8 million were transferred – together with their clients, premises and the funding basis under social welfare law (grant notices, remuneration agreements) – to other non-profit organisations; services and jobs were preserved. The remaining operations are being wound up in a socially responsible manner; completion is expected in 2027.
